The Powershop referral program is called Switch Your Mates. An existing customer shares a unique referral code; when a new customer joins with it, the new customer gets a $75 Friend Credit off their first electricity bill. The whole process is done online and takes around ten minutes.
Step 1 — Open the referral link
Use this link to start at the official Powershop sign-up:
The link takes you to powershop.com.au with the code applied automatically — there’s nothing extra to type. You complete your sign-up directly with Powershop; this page never asks for any of your details.
Step 2 — Check you’re eligible
To qualify for the $75 Friend Credit:
- Your premises must be in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, or South East Queensland.
- You must not have been a Powershop electricity or gas customer in the last 12 months.
- You must sign up to an eligible electricity plan online via the referral link.
- You must complete sign-up on or before 31 December 2026.
Step 3 — Choose a plan and sign up
Enter your address, pick an eligible Powershop electricity plan, and follow the prompts to finish your sign-up online. Before you confirm, review the plan’s rates and the energy price fact sheet so you know what you’ll pay — the $75 credit is a bonus on top of your chosen plan, not a discount on the rates themselves.
Step 4 — Get your $75 credit
After you sign up, your current retailer transfers your account to Powershop. Once Powershop starts supplying your electricity, the $75 Friend Credit is applied as an offset against the charges on your first bill. If your first bill is under $75, the leftover balance carries over to your next bill.
What about the person who referred you?
For full transparency: the existing customer who shared this code also receives a credit on their Powershop bill once you successfully switch — that’s how Switch Your Mates works for both sides. It costs you nothing extra and doesn’t change the $75 you receive.
Good to know
- Powershop may ask for proof of identity or a tenancy agreement to verify eligibility.
- The credit can’t be redeemed for cash and may not be combined with other promotional offers.
- If your contract ends before you’ve used the full credit, the remaining balance is forfeited.
- Credit amounts can change — confirm the current figures in the official terms before you sign up.
